What is Miyagase Dam?
Located about 50 kilometers from the center of Tokyo and 40 kilometers from the urban districts of Yokohama and Kawasaki, Miyagase Dam is the largest dam in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. It was completed in 2001 on Nakatsugawa River, a branch of Sagamigawa River, which runs almost through the center of Kanagawa Prefecture, with the aim of protecting the livelihoods and safety of citizens.
Lake Miyagase - the artificial lake that was formed as a result of construction of Miyagase Dam - today serves as an essential water resource for Kanagawa Prefecture. Due to its location in a rich natural environment close enough for a day trip from Tokyo and Yokohama, it is visited by lots of people throughout the year as a metropolitan area tourist spot endowed with the features of a natural park.Specifications
