Miyagase Dam Highlights

Dam Site District Map
Selective Intake Facility
Water intake is controlled to minimize the downstream impact of any change in water temperature and turbidity. This allows the discharge of clean water at an appropriate temperature.
Emergency Spillway
This uncontrolled spillway has no gate and works to allow water stored in the reservoir to flow freely over so it can be discharged.
Discharge Facility for Water Utilization
This facility discharges water taken from the selective intake facility to control the water level in case of flooding. It discharges water together with the high-level spillway for normal use.
High-Level Spillway for Normal Use
Water gate for flood control. Two discharge lines that run through the dam in a vertical direction safely discharge water downstream.
Low-Level Spillway for Normal Use
If floods occur in succession, this gate rapidly discharges water to lower initial water levels in order to cope with the higher volumes.
Tsukui Channel Intake
If the water level of the Shiroyama Dam becomes low, the Tsukui Channel Intake carries water stored in Miyagase Dam to Doshigawa River.
Ishigoya Dam
This dam stores water discharged from Miyagase Dam to ensure stable discharge into Nakatsugawa River. It also maintains a sufficient water level in the Tsukui Channel and serves as a stilling pool to absorb excess energy as well.
