• Why were the Nakagawa, and Ayase River basins Repeatedly Devastated by Rain-related Flooding ?

  Being surrounded by large rivers like the Tone, Edogawa and Arakawa Rivers, it has topography like a bowl that easily accumulate water.

• About the Metropolitan Outer Area Underground Discharge Channel

  One of the world's largest underground discharge channels at 50 meters below ground.

• Shaft

  "Inflow facilities" and "Shafts" for taking water from the rivers

• Tunnel

  This is an "underground river" constructed to lead flood water flowing in from the Nakagawa, Kuramatsu, Ootoshi-Furutone Rivers and others to the Edogawa River....

• Pressure-Adjusting Water Tank

  This is a facility that ensures the smooth flow of water to the Edogawa River by reducing the momentum of the water from the underground tunnel.

• Draining pump station

  "Drain pump", "Operation Room" and "Drainage sluiceway" for draining flooding from underground areas.
